leading with purpose

Moses saw the suffering (of the Israelites) and desired to alleviate it.  He also knew he was called to deliver God’s people.  It was in his heart.  Yet without the revelation of God he was not prepared to lead them to their destiny.  Leadership without the right purpose can be more dangerous than no leadership at all.  Moses was a leader, he had a purpose, but his purpose was incomplete.  WIthout the revelation of God he could lead them at best to a land of provision void of the real purpose of their freedom – the intimate knowledge of God.  That was why God led him to the back parts of His desert to quiet Moses’ heart from the world he had left.  In the desert he could respond with desire to God’s revelation.  The preparation enabled him to say, “I will now turn aside and see . . . “
